Yasemin Tekgurler is a junior at Davidson College, NC double majoring in Sociology and Studio Art. She is an international student from Istanbul, Turkey, and is currently doing a study abroad semester in Vienna, Austria. After graduation, she is hoping to work at human rights related organizations, journalism sector or non-profits, and specifically helping refugees and migrants, which she is very passionate about; as seen from her volunteer work at Elpida Factory, a refugee camp in Greece, and ongoing research on beliefs about refugees at the host countries, already conducted in Turkey and Austria, as well as her current teaching assistant role at a predominantly immigrant-background middle school in Vienna. She has experience in volunteering at non-profits and held executive roles in a variety of her College organizations from refugee support services to non-profit consulting. She has also worked at Salzburg Global Seminar as a Development Intern in the Washington D.C. Office this past summer.
