Wessam Elsherief is an associate professor of clinical oncology at Kasr Al-Ainy School of Medicine, Cairo University. Since 2014 he has been a member of the Palliative Medicine Unit of Kasr Al-Ainy, which was established in 2008 as the first University Hospital-based Palliative Medical Unit in Egypt. Wessam is interested in improving pain control and palliative care for Egyptian patients with terminal cancer. He is involved in a number of research projects aiming at improving end of life care for terminally ill cancer patients and has published on this area of care. He obtained his Ph.D. in clinical oncology from Cairo University.
