Viktor Borisovich Kuvaldin is a member of Executive Board of the Gorbachev Foundation in Moscow, where he has headed various analytical departments since joining the Foundation in 1992. Before coming to the Foundation, he served for many years at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations at the USSR Academy of Sciences. From 1989 to 1991 he served in the capacity of adviser and speechwriter on foreign policy topics to then Soviet Premier Michael Gorbachev. One of Russia's most recognizable political analysts, Professor Kuvaldin is the author of more than fifty studies including two monographs. His sphere of interests ranges from current problems of international policy to the formation of a new political system in post-communist Russia and has recently focused on globalization and the interconnection of its various aspects. Professor Kuvaldin is a founding member of Club-93, the Realists' Club, the Council for National Strategy, and the Unity for the Sake of Russia Foundation. He holds a Ph.D. in history, is a professor at Moscow State Institute of International Relations and is head of the department of the Moscow School of Economics of Moscow State University.
