Tomoko is the director of education at the Jiyugaoka Gakuen High School, where she is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing programs on the future of education, with a particular focus on social and emotional learning, STEAM education, and international collaboration. Before this, she worked as an independent consultant for ten years on user research and universal design on usable and accessible product design. She works on a broad range of projects across education, including as a National Project Manager of the OECD Survey on Social Emotional Skill and an international social robot design project with Honda Research Institute Japan. Since 2021, she has been a member of the steering committee of Karanga: the Global Alliance for Social Emotional Learning and Life Skills. She holds a doctorate in computer science from the University of Tokyo, a master's degree in computer science from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a master's in physics from Keio University. 1988, she served as an international goodwill ambassador for Rotary International Scholars.
