Tobias Esch is dean for organizational development and professor of integrative health care at Witten/Herdecke University, School of Medicine, Faculty of Health. As a 2013-14 Harkness Fellow in health care policy and practice (Commonwealth Fund, New York) and visiting professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School (Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Division of General Practice and Primary Care), he studied the OpenNotes patient perspective focusing on subjects with a high burden of disease and frequent use, with a particular interest in patient engagement and activation. Tobias is a primary care physician, health researcher, and neuroscientist.
