Tim Norton

Director of Performing Arts, Bromsgrove School; Associate Director, Pleasance Theatre; Associate Director, Edinburgh Festival
Tim Norton is currently director of performing arts at Bromsgrove School while remaining associate director of the Pleasance Theatre in London and at the Edinburgh Festival; a role he has undertaken for over 20 years. He is an award-winning playwright and theatre director, having created over 30 new plays for the Edinburgh Festival and in 2014 wrote and developed Civil Rogues with the Royal Shakespeare Company. His most recent productions in Edinburgh, The Hampstead Murder Mystery and The Curse of Cranholme Abbey, both enjoyed sell-out runs at the festival. A member of the acting company of the Royal National Theatre for 10 years, he created roles in new plays by Edward Bond, and Howard Brenton, while working with Sir Peter Hall, John Dexter and Michael Gambon. He also ran the Saveloy-Bagg Opera company for 15 years, touring much of Great Britain during that time, and has worked internationally at the Avignon Festival. Mr. Norton is delighted to be returning to Schloss Leopoldskron, having re-created Max Reinhardt's New Year's Eve 1928 for a promenade performance with over 25 performers on December 31, 2011.
