Thomas Mantzaris is an independent scholar of 20th and 21st century American literature. He is interested in exploring innovative literary narratives and their potential for creating engaging readerly experiences that sharpen critical skills in the digital age. He is currently working on a monograph drawn from the Ph.D. project he obtained from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he examined multimodality and experimentation in the context of contemporary, print-based, American fiction. He received his M.A. in American Literature and Culture from Uppsala University, Sweden, and received a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from The University of Sheffield, U.K. He has worked as a Lecturer at the International Faculty of The University of Sheffield, and taught to various academic institutions and cultural contexts. He is a member of the Multimodal Research and Reading Group, as well as a Fellow of the U.K. Higher Education Academy. His research interests include contemporary American fiction, multimodality and narrative experimentation, literary theory, and photography.
