Tazeen Ayub

Co-Director of Detroit Chapter, Gathering All Muslim Artists, Detroit, USA
Tazeen is a tenured professor of Arabic at Henry Ford College in Dearborn, a Detroit singer-songwriter and guitarist, and a community organizer. She currently serves as the co-director of the Detroit chapter of GAMA, Gathering All Muslim Artists, a national arts advocacy nonprofit, and is also the co-founder of the Sanctuary of Sound, a venue which hosts spiritual music and meditation sessions. She is interested in exploring how arts and culture (namely music and language) are a means for individuals to express authentically and subsequently to find unity and wholeness in themselves. Many of her projects have focused on the intersection between art, spirituality, and activism and how the arts are a vehicle for and to liberation. Tazeen holds a master of arts in teaching Arabic as a foreign language from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and a bachelor of science in psychology from Wayne State University in Detroit.
