Tandiyar Samir is the general manager of the Josaab Foundation for Social Development. The foundation is leading the hospice movement in Egypt. Working in Greater Cairo at the moment, the foundation has the vision to expand to Upper Egypt. Tandiyar has worked and gained extensive experience in the fields of public health and development for the past 15 years. She has worked on improving health care in Egypt at the Center for Development Services and has played an important role for female empowerment in Egyptian society through her reproductive health teaching and counseling. She is an Ashoka Organization Fellow for being an influential social entrepreneur in implanting a program tailored to improve the quality of nursing in Egypt. Tandiyar has been recognized and honored by the Clinton Global Initiative in 2009 and obtained the Ann C. Michel International Women in Literacy Award in 2011. She is a gynecologist and graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at Assuit University. She also earned a diploma in counseling from the Kotsika Counseling Institute.
