Stephan Leixnering is a senior scientist at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business, Austria. His research focuses on issues of organizational governance, the emergence of organizational forms, and ethical aspects of organization and management. He studies the role of the public interest in private-sector corporate governance, cross-sector collaborations, and the governance of public-sector organizations. Stephan's research has explored an array of topics and empirical settings such as the purpose of corporations, board composition and compensation, gender diversity on boards, collective decision-making in crises and community resilience, the sharing economy as well as the management of inter-organizational arrangements in the public sector. With an educational background in business administration and ethics, he seeks to combine a philosophical mindset with a perspective on organization and management theory grounded in the social sciences. Stephan holds visiting affiliations with MINES ParisTech (France) and Zeppelin University (Germany) and was a visiting scholar at Stanford University (USA). Most recently, he was the co-editor of "The Corporation: Rethinking the Iconic Form of Business Organization", a forthcoming volume in Emerald's Research in the Sociology of Organizations series.
