Stacey Mitchell is a partner in the Environment and Natural Resources Practice group at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, where she co-chairs of the firm's Environmental, Social and Governance and Climate Change Practice groups. Prior to joining Akin Gump, she was deputy general counsel at the Environmental Protection Agency (2014 - 2017) and served for over 16 years in the U.S. Department of Justice's Environmental Crimes Section, the last six of which she served as chief of the section. Stacey began her legal career in the New York County District Attorney's office, serving as a member of the Sex Crimes Prosecution Unit. Stacey serves on the board of the Global Fund for Children, serving on their Grant Making and Development committees. She received her bachelor's degree in government from Colby College and a J.D. from Tulane University School of Law, with a certificate in environmental law.
