Sophia Tscherne is a second year Ph.D student of the English Department at the University of Salzburg. Previously, she has worked as a teacher at the BORG Nonntal, Salzburg. Her doctoral research focuses on the interrelation between documentaries and social activism, with a focus on the Queer Rights Movement in the United States. For her Master Thesis in the teacher training program of the University of Salzburg she researched the history and influence of queer people in Austria and Germany. Her research interests center on social activism and social movements as well as Gender and Queer Studies and their interconnection with the media. She received a Mag.phil from University of Salzburg and is currently working on her Ph.D project.
