Smriti Rana is a psychologist and the program director of the Children's Palliative Care Project for Pallium India in Trivandrum. She has been with the organization since 2013. Smriti is deeply interested in improving access to palliative care across her country, creating awareness about palliative care in general and children's palliative care in particular. She is also interested in advocacy for advanced medical directives in India. Her work includes training clinicians in psychosocial aspects of care and improving assessment techniques that consider a more holistic approach and address total pain. She has also facilitated increased engagement with people from various fields and thereby increasing support for children's palliative care. Smriti received an M.Sc. in holistic psychological counseling from the University of Bangalore - a course that integrates Western therapeutic interventions with Eastern modalities. She has also received a CCPC certification from the Trivandrum Institute of Palliative Sciences, a WHO Collaborating Center for Training and Policy on Access to Pain Relief.
