Sheila Shefo Mbiru is the knowledge management and capacity development officer at the USAID - UNDP funded Low Emission and Climate Resilient Development (LECRD) Project that supports the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in implementing priority climate change response actions. Sheila develops climate change knowledge products that create awareness and empower citizens, including children and youth. Sheila, a World Climate Ambassador, enjoys engaging with and empowering young people as they offer innovative solutions to build a better, safer and more sustainable future. Her projects include leading a multi-sectoral team in developing and implementing the inaugural Kenya Climate Change Art and Essay Competition 2018, enabling over 4300 young learners in primary and secondary schools, including those with special needs, present their understanding and interpretation of climate change through creative works of art and essay writing. Sheila has an M.Sc. in wood science from the University of Melbourne and B.Phil. in information and knowledge management from Stellenbosh University.
