Seth Maphalala

Lubombo TFCA Programme Manager, Swaziland National Trust Commission, Swaziland

Seth Maphalala is currently an administrator of the SADC Trans Frontier Conservation Areas (TFCA) Network and a member of the Environmental Education Association of Southern Africa (EEASA), a regional environmental NGO. His current work involves applying the landscape approach in the conservation and management of natural resources in the Lubombo, a world recognised biodiversity hotspot. He has nearly 15 years of experience in biodiversity management and planning, having started off as a biodiversity programs officer in 2002. He is also an environmental educator and community trainer, as his work enables him to consult at a national and international level on a wide variety of environmental topics, including ecology, environmental impacts assessment, disaster management, and biosafety. Mr. Maphalala has conducted numerous trainings and presented papers to a wide range of audiences on conservation, community participation, environmental education, and natural resource management. He has served on a number of boards and was the long serving chairman on the Executive Board of the Renewable Energy Association of Swaziland (REASWA).
