Samantha Viotty is a new media artist and educator based in Somerville, Massachusetts, USA. She was raised in NYC but is currently pursuing a master's degree in civic media, art & practice at the Engagement Lab at Emerson College. Working with the Engagement Lab, she works as a project manager for the Civic Data Ambassadors Project and research assistant for the Emerging Citizens Digital Game. Her current thesis is called DIY Data Art, a project that co-designs creative data literacy activities with librarians to build youth data literacy skills through short self-guided activities that use personal data as an entry point to data science. She received a bachelor's degree in film & new media studies at Wheaton College in Norton, MA, with an emphasis on race, class, and gender.
