Robert Ophele

Second Deputy Governor, Banque de France, Paris, France

Robert Ophèle has been second deputy governor of the Banque de France since January 6 2012, and has been appointed by the governor to represent him as chairman of the French Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority (Bank and Insurance Supervision). He is a member of the college of the Autorité des marchés financiers (French Financial Markets Authority) and of the Supervisory Board of the Caisse des Dépôts, and in January 2014 became a member of the Supervisory Board for the European Central Bank's Single Supervisory Mechanism. Mr Ophèle graduated from the ESSEC business school with a major in finance.
