Richard Kreitner is the author of Break It Up: Secession, Division, and the Secret History of America's Imperfect Union (Little Brown, 2020), which the historian Eric Foner called "a powerful revisionist account of the troubled history of the American nation." A contributing writer to The Nation, his work has also been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The New York Review of Books, and elsewhere. He is also the author of Booked: A Traveler's Guide to Literary Locations Around the World (2019).
