Richard Freedman is the director of the Cape Town Holocaust Centre and the director of the South African Holocaust and Genocide Foundation, accepting appointments to these positions in 2006 and 2007 respectively. He has a background in education, having taught English and History in high schools in Cape Town, South Africa. Prior to his present position, Richard was also a school principal for fifteen years. He has delivered papers and conducted seminars on Holocaust Education in South Africa, Germany, Israel, the UK, Namibia, France, Australia, the United States and Turkey. He is a graduate of the Harvard Principals' Institute, as well as a fellow of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum education program. In addition, he has been a guide a number of times for the International Adult Delegation for the "March of the Living" in Poland. Richard is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
