Randal Quarles

Randal (Randy) Quarles is chairman of Cynosure Group, a diversified asset management firm. Randal was the first vice chairman for supervision of the Federal Reserve System, serving through October 2021. At the same time, Randal served as chairman of the Financial Stability Board. Earlier in his career, Randal was a partner at Carlyle Group and before that a partner at the law firm Davis Polk and Wardwell. In the Bush Administration (2001–2009), Randal served as under secretary of the Treasury and as US executive director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In addition to leading Cynosure, Randal is a director of American Express Company, an advisory board member at Apollo/Athene, Millennium Management, Stripe, and Asia Gulf Holdings, and a member of the International Councils of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and Mitsubishi Corporation. He is a Fellow of Salzburg Global and serves on the Finance Forum Advisory Committee.
