Rafael Doménech is chief economist for developed economies of BBVA Research and professor of economics at the University of Valencia. In previous positions, he was director general and deputy director of the Economic Bureau of the Spanish Prime Minister (2007-8) and former council member of SEPES and CDTI. Mr. Doménech has also been an external consultant to the OECD, the European Commission and the Fundación de Economía Analítica. Before that he was director of the International Economic Institute and member of the Advisory Board of the University of Valencia as well as external researcher for the Spanish Ministry of the Economy and Finance and the Fundación Rafael del Pino. Rafael Doménech has published numerous articles in well-known international scientific journals on the topics of economic growth, human capital, business cycles, and fiscal and monetary policies. He is also author of the book The Spanish Economy: A General Equilibrium Perspective (Palgrave MacMillan). He holds a M.Sc. in economics from the London School of Economics and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Valencia.
