Radha Karmarkar is a smart city fellow with the India Smart Cities Fellowship at the National Institute of Urban Affairs under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, India. She is currently working with a team to develop and implement a Local Economic Intelligence Platform for Smart City Thiruvananthapuram. She is also involved with other projects at NIUA, for example, preparing a toolkit for the Infant, Toddler, Caregiver Friendly Neighbourhoods Capacity Building Program in Indian Cities. In the last four years, she has worked on diverse projects on urban governance, citizen engagement, and last-mile delivery of public welfare schemes. Her roles involved extensive primary surveys, secondary research, fieldwork, and coordinating with ground-level staff/citizens. She also volunteers as a Shaper at the Global Shapers Community, Pune Hub. Going forward, she wishes to work with projects and organizations that carry interventions for sustainable urban development and governance through engagement with citizens and urban local bodies, and other stakeholders to make cities responsive to vulnerable and marginalized groups. She is a post-graduate in Economics with a specialization in Development Studies at Symbiosis International University.
