Philo Alto is the founder and chief executive officer of Asia Value Advisors (AVA), a leading philanthropy advisory firm based in Hong Kong that seeks to inform, inspire and engage individuals and organizations to create sustainable impacts. He is an ex-investment banker (Goldman Sachs and Citigroup) who is passionate about doing good while doing well. In 2013, he co-founded Asia Community Ventures, a non-profit organization that convened an Impact Investing Forum in Hong Kong supported by the Rockefeller Foundation. He co-authored two reports: "Mind the Gap: Lessons and Findings from EngageHK" and "Adopting the London Principles: Policy Considerations to Grow Impact Investing in Hong Kong." In November 2014, AVA convened an inaugural Foundation Philanthropy Roundtable in Hong Kong bringing together over 50 foundation leaders as well as practitioners to explore what's next in creating sustainable value. Recently, his firm AVA has successfully advised the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust on its program curation for its inaugural Philanthropy for Better Cities forum in September 2016 www.citiesphilanthropy.com . Over 1,300 delegates and 60 speakers participated in this forum. Phlio is a director of the Harvard Club of Hong Kong, director of the Harvard Club of Hong Kong Education Fund, and an officer of the HBS Association of Hong Kong. Philo received his M.B.A. and M.P.A. at Harvard Business School and Harvard Kennedy School and his B.S. in physics and computer engineering at the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines.
