Peter Solmssen became the general counsel and a member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG on October 1, 2007. As general counsel, he is responsible for legal and compliance matters. He is also responsible for the Americas. Prior to joining Siemens, Solmssen was for five years executive vice president and General Counsel of GE Healthcare. Solmssen started his career as an attorney at the law firm of Ballard, Spahr, Andrews & Ingersoll, in Philadelphia. Solmssen received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he was articles editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review and his A.B. from Harvard University. He also studied law at Brasenose College, Oxford University, U.K., on a Knox Fellowship.
