Peter Mandaville

Dr. Peter Mandaville is Senior Advisor for Religion & Inclusive Societies at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) in Washington DC where he is currently on temporary assignment from his usual role as a Professor of International Affairs and Senior Research Fellow at George Mason University and Georgetown University. Previous government experience includes serving as a member of the U.S. State Department's Policy Planning Staff (2010-12) and as a Senior Advisor in the Secretary of State's Office of Religion & Global Affairs (2015-16). Previous think tank affiliations include the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS), the Brookings Institution, and the Pew Research Center. His current work focuses on the role of religion in the war in Ukraine and prospects for longer term national reconciliation in Ukraine. Peter is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
