Pedro Escalante, Jr.

Pedro Escalante Jr. is a media student at Nevada State University, Nevada, studying Visual Media, Communications, and Digital Cinematography. He approaches storytelling through a neo-Marxist lens, interested in how power moves through culture and how communities reclaim meaning through memory and narrative. Shaped by Nepantla and TRIO programs, he sees documentary work as a form of care and resistance, an attempt to honor the everyday lives of people whose stories are often overlooked. His practice blends photography, interviews, and reflective writing to explore identity, belonging, and the quiet ways people create worlds for themselves. Pedro plans to pursue a PhD in Communications and continue building work that uplifts marginalized voices and imagines more equitable futures.
