Professor
Paul Croce is a professor at Stetson University where he teaches on political ideologies and journalism. He encourages students to listen for the values embedded in past and recent cultural conflicts. In his current research, he applies insights from the psychology and pluralism of William James to address polarization, for a project on James and the Politics of Attention. There are so many deep problems, including environmental ill health, legacies of racism, gender insensitivity, growing inequalities, moral disagreements, and more. For all the seriousness of these issues, still more serious may be the American inabilities to focus political attention on them. As expressed in his recent publications, he aims to develop a cultural prelude to politics by encouraging listening across differences.
