Pascale de la Frégonnière

Executive Director, Cartier Philanthropy, Switzerland
Pascale de la Frégonnière joined Cartier in July 2013 to launch Cartier Philanthropy, a grant-making foundation committed to improving the livelihoods of the most vulnerable. Under her leadership, the foundation has invested CHF 54M to support non-profit organisations - social enterprises, NGOs, and UN agencies - operating in over 20 countries. Pascale's two decades' work in humanitarian and development efforts proved an invaluable background for her work in philanthropy. She began her career as an intern at the UN in New York and soon found herself on the team of the UN Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Mogadishu, Somalia. She later joined UNICEF in Baghdad, Iraq, as a communications consultant, and a few years later was back on the team to lead donor relations for the USD 100M Iraq country programme. She also took part in on-the-ground efforts in Haiti after the great earthquake of 2010. Between stints on the ground, much of her work focused on raising the funds to support UNICEF's operations. Pascale initiated and led corporate fund-raising for UNICEF in Beirut, subsequently led UNICEF's corporate fundraising team in France, and managed funding relations with field offices in Africa and South-East Asia. She has also held positions at the UN and UNICEF headquarters in New York, at IFAD in Rome and UNESCO in Paris. Pascale has lived and worked in more than ten countries. She holds a Maîtrise in communication from the European Communication School - University of Paris Nanterre.
