Oronde Miller is a program officer at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation in Battle Creek, Michigan, where he participates in the development of programming priorities, reviews and recommends proposals for funding, manages and monitors a portfolio of active grants, and designs and implements national grant initiatives and multi-year projects. He is responsible for identifying and nurturing opportunities for affecting positive systemic change within communities and executing programming efforts aligned with the foundation's mission. Oronde has over 25 years of experience working with organizations to promote improved life outcomes for children and families. Prior to joining the foundation, he led multiple efforts aimed at eliminating racial disparities within this nation's child welfare, juvenile justice and education systems. He also developed and directed a national leadership institute aimed at helping professionals make sense of the experience of race, racism, and culture in the operations of public child welfare systems, and also assisted in developing and coordinating a national and city-focused technical assistance strategy for Cities United, a national effort to reduce violence-related deaths among African American men. Oronde also was a member of the inaugural class of the WKKF Community Leadership Network fellowship program as part of the racial equity and racial healing cohort.
