Program Advisor, Mercy Corps, Jordan
Omar AlTal currently manages Mercy Corps' education and youth department in Iraq and is a humanitarian aid worker with experience in Iraq, Jordan and Greece. His work focuses on programming to support children, adolescents and their families through accelerated Education, psychosocial assistance and advocacy for policy change. Omar also managed Mercy Corps' adolescent girl's center and child protection programs in Jordan. Previously, Omar coordinated a wide range of emergency programs focused on water and sanitation, protection and cash-based assistance with the International Rescue Committee and Mercy corps in Jordan and in Greece respectively. Previously, he presented at a wide range of national and international venues as an advocate and speaker; and voluntarily served as a steering committee member for KARANGA "the Global Alliance for Social Emotional Learning and Life skills". Omar aims to be a catalyst in the lives of vulnerable population, supporting their efforts to define safe spaces, build self-reliance and enforce the sense of belonging through managing education, social protection and government advocacy programming. Omar studied Business administration at Yarmouk University in Jordan, and holds On Job training certificates from Portland state university.
