Nagwa Megahed is an associate professor of comparative and international education at the American University in Cairo (AUC). She teaches and conducts research on education reform (policy and practice) in Egypt, the Middle East, the North Africa region, and other developing countries. Nagwa recently completed a two-year funded project on community-based learning and civic engagement at AUC for student citizenship. She has extensive experience in large-scale grants and projects related to improving educational quality and equity in Egypt and internationally. Nagwa has been involved in numerous technical advisory and consultancy capacities in a variety of educational reform projects with international organizations and national authorities. Her professional, academic, and voluntary services and activities focus on education, religion, gender, and social justice. She obtained her Ph.D. in social and comparative analysis in education from the University of Pittsburgh. Nagwa is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
