Mubigalo Aloys Mahwa
Executive Director, Interdisciplinary Studies Center, Rwanda
Aloys Mahwa is executive director and researcher at the Interdisciplinary Genocide Studies Center, Kigali, Rwanda. In previous positions, he served as director and administrator of Saint Ignace School in Kigali. Since 2004, he has organized summer programs for college students on "Genocide and Reconstruction" in Rwanda. As co-founder and researcher at the Interdisciplinary Genocide Studies Center, Aloys provides expertise to the National Commission for the Fight Against Genocide. Aloys is currently working on different research projects on engagement of men in peace, and stability in the Great Lakes Region of Africa. In addition, he collaborates with the International Peace Support Training Center to support African peacekeepers to prevent sexual and gender-based violence and protect civilians in Somalia, Darfur, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. His research interests include socio-anthropology, genocide education, equity and diversity, and economy and finance. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the Jesuit Faculties of Paris, France and a B.A. in Managerial Economics from the Institute of Financial Management, Bujumbura, Burundi, an M.A. in Socio-Anthropology and an M.A. in Managerial Economics from the Catholic University of Central Africa, Yaoundé, Cameroon. Aloys is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
