Mio Nozoe Parsons is a passionate humanitarian aid professional with over 19 years of experience in emergency, post-conflict operations, and resilience. She specializes in policy planning, program coordination, and project management. Currently, Mio is the head of the resilience unit in the UN World Food Programme (WFP) in Sudan, and oversees the Productive Safety Net, Post-harvest Loss, and Climate Change Program, which covers over 3 million beneficiaries nationwide. As a national of Japan, Mio joined WFP in 2004 and has served in Sri Lanka (including one year with the post-tsunami emergency operation), South Sudan, Somalia, Lao PDR, Yemen, and Senegal, in addition to several short-term emergency/development missions. She holds a Master's degree in Social Policy and Planning in Developing Countries from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Mio is an enthusiastic runner/swimmer, singer, and writer.
