Michaela Moua

EU Anti-racism Coordinator, European Commission, Belgium

Michaela Moua is the first EU Anti-racism Coordinator of the European Commission. Michaela liaises closely with people with a minority racial or ethnic background and relays their concerns to the Commission. Additionally, she interacts with Member States, the European Parliament, civil society and academia to strengthen policy responses in the field of anti-racism. Michaela also joins forces with Commission services to implement the Commission's policy on preventing and combating racism. She previously held a number of senior roles in NGOs in her native Finland combating racism and discrimination. For the last few years, she has worked at the Non-discrimination Ombudsman's office and at the Ministry of Justice in Finland. She has extensive experience and expertise in combating racism and ethnicity-based discrimination and in promoting an ethnically equal and diverse society on the local and member state level. In addition, she is a solution-focused brief therapist with expertise in the effects of racism and discrimination on mental health.
