Michael Leigh
Senior Advisor, German Marshall Fund of the United States; former Director-General for Enlargement, European Commission, Brussels (invited)
Michael Leigh is the Director General for Enlargement at the European Commission. He has worked within the Commission and General-Secretariat for over 20 years. He was previously the director in Directorate General-Enlargement in charge of Turkey as well as Bulgaria, Cyprus, Malta, and Romania. He has a Ph.D. in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. Dr. Leigh is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar Session 209, European-American Relations, 1982, and he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Salzburg Global Seminar.
