Mellisa Dajay is a community organizer with United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) for the Post-Yolanda support for the safer homes and settlements program - a community-driven approach to recovery and rehabilitation in the Visayas. She is a development worker who works with intergovernmental organizations in post-conflict and post-disaster rehabilitation in the Philippines. For her internship, she was given the opportunity to join the Department of Social Welfare in Development (DSWD) in Region VI through its convergence program in the community empowerment activity cycle or the CEAC process. She is a former United Nations Volunteer with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the early recovery and livelihood program during typhoon Haiyan. She has vast experience as a development worker where she gained sufficient work experience in the field of research, strong competencies in community organizing, mastery in data collection, and excellent practice in project implementation using the community-driven approach and the people's process. She worked as a NGO consultant and directly facilitated research projects that scrutinized public health issues and environmental safety in the Philippines. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Development from Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U).
