Md Mahmudul Hoque is additional secretary for development in the Ministry of Education, Bangladesh. In his capacity, he observes all development projects and programmes by the Ministry of Education for secondary and higher education in Bangladesh. His main responsibility is to supervise design, prepare, implement, monitor and evaluate the development programmes and projects. Currently, he is managing the Secondary Education Development Programme (SEDP) which is an eighteen-billion-dollar multiyear education program in Bangladesh. It aims to achieve a more efficient, equitable and inclusive secondary education system which equips students with the skills needed in the 21st century. The five-year programme is covering grades 6 to 12 and supports more than 12 million students and 357,000 teachers from more than 32 thousand secondary institutions. Mahmudul has three international publications in the area of environment, education and training.
