Mawande is currently a client relationship manager at an international company in the financial services industry based in Cape Town. He obtained a bachelor of commerce in accounting from the University of the Western Cape. Mawande is also a writer, performer, host, curator and leader. In his art career, he has worked with a number of organizations and art houses who are hoping to elevate and improve the state of art in and around Cape Town. He is currently the founder and the director of Amazink Uplugged based in Stellenbosch, a curator for Lokxion Poetry House which focuses on infusing Poetry with Conversations. He has been involved in a number of initiatives that are aimed at changing the status quo of the country and believes in equality for all genders and races. As an artist based in a township that is heavily affected by social issues such as gender based violence, substance abuse, racism and unemployment, his work aims at addressing these issues and improving the standard of living and that of the art for the youth in and around Cape Town.
