City Councillor
Mariam Dawood has served as one of the youngest elected officials in the UK since 2018. She represents the Labour Party as a Councilor representing Manor Park, Newham, the UK's most ethnically diverse Borough. Mariam is a passionate advocator for local people, ensuring that Council policies are inclusive of the communities she represents. In addition to her political career, Mariam is also a strategy and communications consultant, working on projects ranging from arts and culture to projects with international NGOs such as the United Nations. As the founder and director of The Politics School, Mariam has created an organization dedicated to teaching children and young people about politics and change-making. Mariam's passion for encouraging young people to participate in the democratic process recently earned her the Young Councilor of the Year Award in England and Wales. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal arts with a major in politics from King's College London and a master's degree in international relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
