Associate Professor of Political Science, Egypt
Manar Shorbagy is an associate professor of political science. She is the former academic director of the American Studies Center at American University in Cairo, Egypt (2003-6). She taught American politics and foreign policy for 20 years at the American University in Cairo. Her scholarly interests revolve around the US. She has scholarly publications in both Arabic and English. Her latest English publication was a chapter in: Global Perspectives on the United States, Pro-Americanism, Anti-Americanism and the Discourses Between, Edited by Virginia Domingues and Jane Desmond. Chicago: The University of Illinois Press, 2017, and an Arabic language book titled "Who Chooses the U.S. President?". Her forthcoming paper will be published in an Arabic peer-reviewed journal under the title: "The U.S. Presidential Election and Beyond". Manar also contributes weekly political commentaries to one of Egypt's most widely circulated newspapers. She holds a PhD. She is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
