Director for Digital Industry, DG CONNECT European Commission
Lucilla Sioli is the director for digital industry within the Communications Networks, Content and Technology unit (DG CNECT) of the European Commission. Since 2015, she led the development of digital skills policies, managing the EU Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition and heading the reflection on digitization and labor markets. She also serves as the head of the European Semester and Knowledge Base unit within the Directorate-General CONNECT. With this unit, she monitors trends and performance in the digital economy, and is responsible for country monitoring in the context of Europe2020 and for the publication of the Digital Agenda Scoreboard. The unit also manages the oversight of the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs, which addresses the impact of ICT on labor markets. Ms. Sioli has been a civil servant with the European Commission since 1997. Throughout her career, she has worked on issues relating to the digital economy, including broadband and country monitoring, through the Digital Economy and Society Index and the European Semester. She received a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Southampton and a Ph.D. from the Catholic University of Milan.
