Deputy Head of Division, Senior Advisor
Lars is a political scientist from the University of Copenhagen. He has had a long career in the Danish civil service working primarily in the Ministry of Finance but also served 3 years at the Prime Minister's Office working on EU-affairs and 3 years as a financial counselor at the Danish Embassy in Washington DC. He is currently a senior advisor and the deputy head of the expenditure division in the Danish Ministry of Finance. He is a long-standing member of the Senior Budget Officials at the OECD and he has participated numerous times at the Center of Government Network at the OECD. He has been involved in both expenditure policy and budgeting for many years and a key member of the design of the current Danish framework for medium term planning and expenditure framework. He served as the lead on the expenditure side to the Danish response to COVID, the inflation crisis and the early Ukraine efforts. He has also been involved in in most initiatives to modernize the Danish welfare society serving for a time as the senior advisor to the Danish minister for innovation in the Ministry of Finance. Lars is a Fellow of Salzburg Global.
