Klemens Riha is the coordinator of the global project to combat poaching and illegal wildlife trade in Africa and Asia at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). His role is to coordinate the implementation of cross-border and transcontinental initiatives along the entire illegal trade chain to help reduce wildlife crime. He also works as advisor in the GIZ sectoral program "Implementing the Convention on Biological Diversity". Previously, he has worked on issues of sustainable land management in the context of the UN Convention on Desertification and Drought. He holds a master's degree in geography from the University of Vienna with extensive international work experience in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Asia-Pacific region.
