Kimmo Leppo is the former director-general of the Health Department in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, Helsinki, a position he held from 2002 to 2007. Prior to his service at the Ministry, he was the director-general at the Department for Social and Health services, Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, Helsinki; and as director, planning and evaluation, of the National Board of Health. Dr. Leppo has worked with numerous international organizations including the WHO and UNICEF. Mr. Leppo holds a M.Sc. in social medicine from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, United Kingdom. He also received a doctor of medicine (public health) and, in 1981, his competence for a professional chair in medical sociology.
