Cornelis (Kees) van Minnen has been the director of the Roosevelt Study Center in Middelburg, the Netherlands, since 1984 and professor of American history at Ghent University, Belgium, since 2001. He received a Ph.D. in history from Leiden University, the Netherlands, in 1991. He was a Fulbright research grantee at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC in 1983, a fellow of the National Humanities Center in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina in 2010, and a fellow of the Salzburg Seminar American Studies Programs in 2000, 2004, and 2011. His research interests include US-European relations, US political and cultural history, and the modern US South. He is the author/editor of 17 volumes, including Van Loon: Popular Historian, Journalist, and FDR Confidant (New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2005); Four Centuries of Dutch-American Relations, 1609-2009 (Amsterdam: Boom and Albany, New York: SUNY, 2009); and The U.S. South and Europe: Transatlantic Relations in the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries (Lexington: University Press of Kentucky, 2013).
