Jung-Suk (JS) Ryu is the founding president and CEO of the National accessArts Centre (NaAC), Canada’s largest disability arts organization, based in Calgary. Under his leadership, NaAC has grown into a national platform supporting hundreds of artists with disabilities each week and is currently leading the development of the world’s first accessible arts learning campus in Calgary—representing nearly $30 million in public and philanthropic investment, the largest such investment in Canadian disability arts history. JS has held senior leadership roles across the arts, health, and diplomatic sectors, with experience at The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), the Alberta Medical Association, and in the Embassy of Japan in Canada as principal speechwriter and press attaché to the Ambassador. Additionally, JS was the founding artistic director of the Ottawa Symphonic Ensemble. He has received the Alberta Centennial Medal, the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal, and the King Charles III Coronation Medal for leadership and community service. A classically trained pianist, he studied performance at the Royal Conservatory of Music. JS is a Salzburg Global Fellow.
