Julie Martin is a managing director in the Political Risk and Structured Credit Practice of Marsh JLT Specialty. Julie's work includes program structure, exposure analysis, insurance placement, and claims advisory for a variety of industries. She has worked extensively with both public and private political risk underwriters to address complex risks and exposures. Julie joined Marsh after twenty years of experience in the political risk business at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the U.S. government agency charged with promoting U.S. investment in emerging markets. At OPIC, Julie served in a variety of positions, including chief underwriter and head of the political risk insurance department. She was responsible for many of the initiatives by OPIC in the political risk area including development of programs for institutional lenders and the capital markets. She has a M.B.A. in finance from George Washington University, a M.S. in foreign service and economic development from Georgetown University, and a B.G.S. in international relations from Texas Tech University.
