My name is Julia Bryant, and I am a sophomore at The University of Maryland, College Park studying multi-platform journalism and French. I grew up in Columbia, Maryland, a city between Baltimore and Washington D.C. I have been a swimmer my entire life, competing in statewide and nationwide competitions, including meets during my college career. My other interests include writing, especially poetry, and working out. My spirit animal is the sloth, not because I am lazy, but because I could probably sleep all day if I put my mind to it. I also love to watch Criminal Minds and Scrubs and take Buzzfeed quizzes. I have spent time abroad, including an exchange program, where I spent a two weeks living abroad with a family in Cergy-Pontoise, a suburb outside of Paris. My favorite newspaper is The Economist and I love listening to National Public Radio (NPR). My love for journalism begun in high school, when I worked on the student newspaper and had my first real experience reporting. I would love to work as a foreign correspondent for a news publication and travel the world. I am extremely excited for the opportunity to be a part of this program this summer and cannot wait for what I will learn and the experience I will gain.
