Joy Akinyi is a Masters degree student at Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya. In Nairobi, she also volunteers as a public relations specialist at the Institute of Primate Research. She joined the organization in 2018. She is interested in coming up with new ways to make the institution better known in order to bring awareness to the amazing innovations and scientific discoveries being made there. Her projects have included producing marketing material for the institution in the form of brochures and newsletters, and also managing the social media websites. She has previously worked in the media at a national radio station, and also did sales and marketing for several years. She has produced several documentaries on Kenya's heritage within the National Museum of Kenya's audio visual department. She received her undergraduate degree in communication from the United States International University in 2011.
