Jose Pereira is director of research at the College of Family Physicians of Canada and professor of palliative care in the Division of Palliative Medicine, Department of Family Medicine, McMaster University. He is also professor in the Department of Family Medicine, University of Ottawa and is co-founder (in 2001) and scientific officer of Pallium Canada, a non-profit foundation that builds primary-level palliative care capacity. Jose continues a clinical practice as a palliative care physician consultant at the William Osler Hospital in Brampton, Ontario. He has led and participated in several provincial and national palliative care educational and health services development initiatives in Canada and Portugal. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the African Palliative Care Association and is participating as a member of the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement (CFHI) group.
